FAQs when buying cordless concrete nailers
Why should I choose a battery-powered nailer?
One of the main benefits of battery-powered direct fastening is extra productivity. With cordless direct fasteners you don't need to drill and anchor, so you can save a lot of time.
The other key benefits of battery-powered fasteners as opposed to corded or gas-powered are flexibility and portability, with the same amount of power. There is no need to manage different power sources and multiple cordless battery platforms across several locations, and no more hazardous cables to trip you up. And unlike with gas-powered tools, there are no gas cans to buy and store, no fumes and a lot less noise, leading to a safer and cleaner working environment.
What should I look for when choosing a cordless nailer?
Important features to look for include:
- Adjustable depth of drive. This allows you to control how far the tool drives a nail into the surface.
- Nail size adjustment so you can change nail size according to the job at hand.
- A jam-clearing feature to prevent nails jamming in the mechanism.
- Larger triggers to make operating the nailer in gloved hands easier.
- Accessibility features such as angled magazines, which allow the nailer to access tight spaces and corners more easily.
What mistakes should I avoid when using a cordless fastener?
There are several common mistakes to avoid when using a nailer, such as:
- Overdriving: Fastener overdrive can happen when a fastener is driven too deep into the material surface. To prevent this, make sure you adjust the nailer's depth control, so that the fastener is driven in flush with the surface.
- Dry-firing: Using the fastener when it has run out of nails can cause strain on the tool's internal components. Look for a nailer with a refill indicator.
