How to use a Hilti rotating laser

Rotating lasers have become absolutely essential on the construction site. They are used for every type of work, and on every type of project, to make sure that lines are straight and measurements are perfect.

The Hilti rotating laser range is designed to meet that need in a new, better way. Products like our PR 40-22 are lasers with a difference. Here’s how they work, and how they benefit your teams on the job site.

First things first, which laser do you need?

Horizontal laser

Our PR 4-22 is a robust exterior rotary laser level designed for horizontal levelling. It also features strobe-shield mode – integrated technology that protects against false detections from lights, LEDs, and glass/metal reflections to help improve consistency and productivity on the job site.

Horizontal, vertical and single slope

The PR 40-22 includes automatic functions for long-distance levelling, aligning, sloping and squaring. The one button design also enables one-person operation for better on-site productivity.

Internal horizontal, vertical and single slope

Our PR 40G-22 offers the same functions as the PR 40-22, including one button operation, but features a green laser for internal/ interior applications.

Horizontal, vertical and dual slope

The PR 400 delivers exterior rotary laser level features with automatic functions for long-distance levelling, aligning, squaring and dual slope capabilities.

Simple, single-button design

Our rotating lasers use a simple, single-button design that enables one-person operation of the equipment, including the ability to set automatic functions within 300 metres. Intuitive icons and QR codes are also included to provide active support on site, reducing the need for prior experience or complex training.

That means you can get better results with fewer resources by using a Hilti rotating laser. It’s so intuitive and easy that it reduces the time and money spent training people how to use tools on site – without sacrificing effectiveness or productivity.

Want extended working range? We’ve got you covered!

Simplicity on the job site is one thing, but making sure you get more done on site is what we love doing.

The 2-in-1 universal PRA 400 laser remote/receiver detects rotating laser beams up to 800m and allows you to adjust the RPMs with ease. It’s compatible with our PR 40-22, PR 40G-22 and PR 400-22 lasers, so you can get more done without needing multiple people. It displays digital offset values and controls the automatic functions of your rotary laser, helping you complete advanced layouts with ease.

Together, those functions means that in most cases you will only have to position the tool once to cover a bigger working area. That saves you time and money on site, and is another factor that reduces the need for additional or higher level training without impacting performance.

Rotate through alignments

Our rotating lasers rotate to align with different orientations without you having to physically move the tool. This eliminates the need to have multiple tools to cover different alignments.

Using the simple controls, you can set a rotating laser to point wherever you want quickly and easily. Having one tool that satisfies multiple functions also saves you time and money on the job site every day.

Auto-alignment features

Aligning lasers properly can be a time-consuming, complex task. In other words, exactly the sort of job that slows down work on site, reducing your efficiency and productivity.

Hilti’s rotating laser range takes that off your hands. Auto-alignment features reduce the need for calculations and figuring out if the receivers are aligned to the head unit. Instead, they provide automatic vertical alignment, digital slope entry and cheque slope features help simplify and speed up your layout applications.

Durable and robust

Our rotating lasers have been engineered with protective materials and bumpers in exactly the right spots to counter any drops, bumps or other impacts that may occur.

The new aluminium core, internal dampers, shock-absorbing head/handles and IP66 rating are just some of the measures designed to reduce downtime and maintain laser accuracy in rough job site conditions, so your team can get more work done.

Finally, our rotating lasers such as the PR 40-22 operate on the Nuron battery platform which makes using it for long periods easier than ever. You won’t need separate batteries or a different tool park manager to charge and maintain batteries for our rotating lasers.

Instead, they use the same batteries as all your other Hilti Nuron tools, so you can swap them out easily and efficiently when needed. That versatility, along with smart asset tracking and battery life indicators, helps to reduce downtime on site and increase productivity.
