The best tools for summertime

We love the summer sun! It’s the best time of year to be out and about and the busy season for construction. However, the changing conditions also mean that you need to think about the tools you’re using and make sure you’ve got the right equipment for the weather.

But what are the best tools you can use for summer days? We’ve picked out some Hilti products that will get your site summer-ready!

KCF 4-22 Cordless Jobsite Fan

Working hours are longer and hotter during the summer. It’s great for jobsite productivity, and you can cut your construction programme down by maximising your time on site – but that heat means you have to also keep your site properly ventilated. Health and safety in the summer includes keeping your workers cool.

The KCF 4-22 Cordless Jobsite Fan features all-day battery life, a rotating head and hanging hooks so you can position it wherever you need to effectively ventilate and cool the working area. It’s versatile, powerful, adjustable and portable so you can get cool air when and where you need it.

NBL 4-22 Compact Jobsite Blower

Hot work in the drier summer season will naturally create more dust. With lower winds and natural airflow on site, that dust settles on surfaces and presents multiple health and safety issues. There’s more debris for people to potentially breathe in, and more obstructions to ongoing works that can lead to incidents.

The solution is the NBL 4-22 Compact Jobsite Blower. It’s convenient and compact, weighing just 1.1kg. However, lightness doesn’t mean it lacks power. The blower has a variable-speed trigger, three power modes and two nozzle lengths to help you keep virtually any type of dust or debris under control. Finally, it’s cordless with a long battery life so that you can transport and use it anywhere on site with ease.

DD 30-W Core Drill

Another way to keep dust down in dry conditions is to use tools that minimise it in the first place. A good example is our DD 30-W Core Drill which enables wet, handheld coring of heavy-duty anchor and rebar holes from 8-35 mm (5/16 - 1-3/8") in diameter.

Wet coring reduces the amount of dust produced, protecting the health and safety of your workers in hot, dry conditions. It also stops the tool from overheating so it can be used safely for longer. Other features of the tool include impact-free drilling which produces minimal noise for even greater health and safety benefits.

PC 2-22 Cordless Pressure Cleaner

Water can be used to increase efficiency and safety during the summer in other ways, too. The PC 2-22 Cordless Pressure Cleaner is a fast, efficient method of cleaning up jobsite dust and debris that saves you time and increases productivity.

It’s cordless, ergonomic and lightweight, with a 4-in-1 pressure nozzle that can turbo wash with concentrated pressure or spray up to 60 degrees wide for larger areas. Simply attach it to a water source and you can start pressure washing immediately – a reliable way to keep the jobsite safe and cool in hot summer conditions.

PT-C Thermal Camera

Finally, it pays dividends to know when a work area is too hot. The PT-C Thermal Camera is a high resolution infrared (IR) camera which generates matching infrared and optical pictures so you can accurately pinpoint the temperature anywhere on site.

Offering thermal imaging from -20 °C up to 600 °C, you’ll have no trouble seeing work areas that are too hot and need additional cooling and ventilating equipment to keep people working safely. You can also use to it to see if any tools are too hot and in danger of breaking, allowing you to swap them out in a timely fashion to maintain productivity.
