As a Structural Engineer, you may not have enough data available to determine the resistance of a post-installed anchor for a safer, efficient and cost-effective design. Approval documents or technical manuals may not cover the base material. You're most likely to encounter this when working on reinforcement or restoration projects with older, possibly damaged, concrete or masonry, but also with natural stone or porous materials, etc.
As a Project Manager, you may need to proof test post-installed anchors or post-installed rebar in order to document the installed quality for the Quality Manager, Project Owner or an external inspector.
For both cases, Hilti offers on-site tensile testing services.
Our engineers work with you on the jobsite, and then provide a PDF test report with load and displacement values. On request, an additional evaluation report can be provided with calculated resistance or with a quality assessment, both according to official guidelines.
However, site-testing one or more products, independent of the reason, can never:
- Serve as a substitution for an approval document
- Serve to overrule an existing approval document
- Serve to conclude which is a “better” product by comparison
- Serve as a substitution for proper anchor design
