WHAT IS A CABLE TRANSIT SYSTEM?
Cable transit systems are modular, adaptable sealing and passive fire protection solutions. They are used to create a more resistant seal against gas, smoke and water and are ATEX-approved against blasts around cables/pipes as they pass through openings in walls, floors, bulkheads or decks.
The system consists of standardized rubber blocks, called cable modules (various sizes and types available), through which services pass. Any combination of these modules can be arranged within a transit frame – the rigid border mounted to the wall or floor. The final step is to add a wedge module to the top of the transit frame. Using a socket wrench, this wedge is expanded to secure the cable modules in place using compressive force. Future changes are as simple as loosening the wedge and adjusting the cable modules as needed. If you need specialized features, such as electromagnetic shielding or ATEX-approved blast resistance, Hilti can provide suitable cable modules on request.
